It seems getting the name of the city wrong wasn't the only stupid thing to come out of Dementia Donny's mouth during his rally in Sioux City, Iowa this Sunday. He also told a "sir" story about Melania while mocking trans athletes.
Melania told Trump what wasn't presidential to do at his rallies — but he did it anyway:
Making fun of a transgender bodybuilder is not presidential, according to former first lady Melania Trump. Her husband relayed the story in a Sioux City, Iowa rally on Sunday.
Donald Trump told the supporters who gathered at the event a number of rambling stories, including that he is suffering under $100 million in legal bills. But when it came to issues of LGBTQ equality and human rights, Trump said he's not allowed to make fun of a transgender bodybuilder. However, making fun of a transgender swimmer appears to be acceptable.
And he given the fact that the rambling included a "sir" story, it's a given that all of it it completely made up. Sadly the MAGA idiots in the crowd just loved the idiocy.

CBS host Margaret Brennan grilled Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) on Sunday after he said he opposed aid to children in Gaza because he insisted it would go to the terror group Hamas.
While Vance agreed that there are "a lot of innocent people in Gaza," he insisted that terrorists would intercept the aid packages.
"So if you deliver a large amount of humanitarian assistance, who's it going to go to?" he asked. "The children in Gaza or to the Hamas fighters on the front line? I fear it's going to go to Hamas."
Brennan pointed out that international organizations like the Red Cross were distributing the aid.
"But I think there's still a lot of evidence with a lot of these international organizations that when we send aid into Gaza, a lot of it goes into the wrong hands," Vance said. "We don't want to basically fund two sides of the exact same conflict. Fund Hamas, fund Israel."
"Well, it's not aid to Hamas," Brennan observed. "It's aid to the Palestinian people."
"And if I could wave a magic wand and give aid to the Palestinian children, I will," Vance quipped.

Beloved former “Friends” star Matthew Perry died at 54. Perry was reportedly found in a hot tub outside of his home at around 4 p.m. Saturday in Los Angeles, with the cause of death listed as an “apparent drowning.”
Anti-vaxxers poured in on social media to promptly blame the COVID-19 vaccination for his death. Kandiss Taylor, a former GOP candidate for governor of Georgia and current GOP chair of Georgia’s 1st congressional district, weighed in. She even pinned this tweet.

The sort of partisan hackery one expects in the House of Representatives, not in the U.S. Senate. Alabama had Doug Jones, but they chose this putz instead and now the country is paying the price.
Source: NewsMax
Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who has been blocking more than 300 military promotions because of his opposition to travel allowances for members of the military seeking abortions, told Newsmax Thursday that Democrats who are working on a proposal to circumvent his actions would be better off focusing on the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East that "their side, the Democrats, and Joe Biden have created."
"They want to circumvent the rules in the Senate," the Alabama Republican told Newsmax's "Newsline." "The only power you have in the minority is to be able to have holds on something to get the attention of the other side, whether it's Republican or Democrat."
But now, "they know I mean business when it comes to abortion in the military," Tuberville added while accusing Democrats of wanting to change the Senate's policy on legislative holds "midstream."
"They didn't give the American taxpayers an opportunity to have their representatives vote on this," he said. "That's all I want is a vote."

There are a few strains of thought here. Donald Trump, a former reality TV show star, loves publicity. Still, exposure to the courtroom by television cameras could also reveal the unvarnished truth instead of what he chooses to post on his Truth Social platform. The former President's lead lawyer in the case, John Lauro, previously told CNN that he supported televising the trial. Meanwhile, prosecutors are not keen on the idea.
And would it be Constitutional? If not, maybe we can terminate that part of the Constitution. I hear that Trump's into that. However, Trump would turn the proceedings into a circus.
Reuters reports:
A U.S. judge on Friday asked former President Donald Trump whether he wants to appear on television when he stands trial in federal court on charges of attempting to overturn his 2020 election defeat.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan in Washington asked Trump's lawyers to give their opinion by Nov. 10 on media requests to broadcast the trial, which is scheduled to begin in March 2024.
In two separate filings, NBC News and a coalition of 19 media organizations and press advocacy groups argue that the public has a right to see an unprecedented trial of a former U.S. president who is also the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican nomination. They argue that a federal rule barring broadcast of criminal proceedings is unconstitutional.

Today, Mike Pence announced in Las Vegas that he was suspending his campaign and exiting the race for the GOP nomination. See, keeping his mouth shut about the Mango Menace was rewarded, just the way he hoped. (Not.) Via the Washington Post:
He received a standing ovation from the influential donors in a room of more than 1000 people on Saturday as he said he had concluded that it “was not his time.”
“After much prayer and deliberation I have decided to suspend my campaign for president,” he said. “Let me promise you I will never leave the fight, for conservative values and I will never stop.”
“We always knew this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets,” he said. “The only thing that would have been harder than coming up short.”
“I urge all my fellow Republicans here give our country a Republican standard-bearer that will, as Lincoln said, appeal to the better angels of our nature, and not only lead us to victory but lead our nation with civility back to the time-honored principles that have always made America strong and prosperous and free.”

Republicans finally fell in line today and elected Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House. Johnson has been in the House since 2016, so he doesn't have much experience.
Steve Bannon and Matt Gaetz, on the other hand, are chortling because he knocked out all the experienced GOP leadership in order to install his MAGA speaker of choice with the same sword hanging over his head that Kevin McCarthy had -- one Representative can move to knock him out of that position.
One thing that has been driven home in this vote: It was never about election denial. Mike Johnson led the charge to overturn the 2020 election and yet this time around they all fell in line and voted for him, because he's basically Jim Jordan without the bluster.

"Wilson said that he didn’t realize the firearm was in his bag and that baggage screeners at the airport in the U.S. hadn’t detected it." Obviously, Wilson will now sue the TSA screeners for their failure.
Moron.
And Republican, of course. But that really didn't need to be added, did it?
Wilson and his wife were just about to begin a five-week vacation in Southeast Asia, with stops in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. His plans have been scuttled now, as he has a court appearance on Oct. 30 in Hong Kong.

HONG KONG — A Washington state senator was arrested at the airport in Hong Kong and charged with possession of an unregistered firearm, his office said.
Sen. Jeff Wilson, R-Longview, was detained at Hong Kong International Airport on Friday night after he found a pistol in his carry-on bag and reported it to customs officials.
He was released on bail Sunday and faces a hearing Oct. 30.
“It was an honest mistake, and I expect the situation to be resolved shortly,” he said in a statement.
Wilson said he did not realize the unloaded weapon was in his bag when he passed through security at the airport in Portland, Oregon, where it was not detected by baggage screeners.

After the Kraken Lady decided to flip like a pancake on a hot griddle, Kenneth Chesebro, a Donald Trump-aligned attorney who helped craft the 2020 fake elector plot, decided to jump in that griddle, too, so he is pleading guilty in the Georgia election subversion case.
Chesebro, who was charged alongside the twice-impeached, four-times indicted former President and more than a dozen other codefendants with serious charges, such as attempting to delay the transfer of power after the 2020 election, was scheduled to stand trial this week.
MSNBC talking heads discussed the breaking news.
"The significance of Kenneth Chesebro switching his plea, following what Sidney Powell did the other day, switching his plea to guilty, it seems to -- my read on this one count, count 15, it's a felony of filing false documents, but it seems to me it's a very light sentence -- that was a minimum of one to five incarceration, and he ended up with a fine, community service, a letter of apology," Andrea Mitchell said.
"It's hard to overstate, I think, the significance of what we have just watched unfold here," MSNBC legal correspondent Laura Jarrett said. "You have somebody who prosecutors believe was at the center of the scheme to create false slates of electors to put forth to The National Archives and Congress, to overturn the will of the people, overturn the election results in Georgia, who has now pled guilty to a felony."

Conservatives like Tomi Lahren desperately need something or anything to be outraged about. It's a rule to belong to their club where their members are dwindling. It doesn't matter how ridiculous they sound; it's an essential issue to them.
The newest outrage is the stairs President Biden uses to board Air Force One because nothing else is going on in the world.
"And that's because we have this commander-in-chief in the Oval Office," Tomi said. "A lot of Americans right now feel rudderless."
"A lot of Americans are looking at this president, hoping that he'll show signs of leadership and strength," she insisted. "And meanwhile, he can't even use the regular-sized stairs to board Air Force One."
"I mean, you can't make this stuff up, Sean," she added.
Biden is 80-years-old, just three years older than Trump. When people have the olds, they might take a shorter route. With Biden, he just visited a warzone for the second time in his presidency. That said, it's fine by me if he takes fewer steps on a staircase.
I can't believe we're even discussing this. I'm an absolute clutz. I fell down a staircase in a fancy pants club in France when I was all dressed up, etc. I was 23 at the time -- so Tomi can shut the fuck up. Biden is human. Oh no!
I'm leaving this here just because:

Republicans weren't exactly fired up at the thought of Rep. Jim Jordan as Speaker, but quite a few of them finally voted for the former sexual-abuse denying assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State. Still, Jordan couldn't bring in the votes or the enthusiasm. But House minority leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries brought in both, and he will have that gavel one day.
"The tellers agree in their tallies that the total number of votes cast is 433, of which the Honorable Jim Jordan of the state of Ohio has received 199," acting speaker Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) said, and that garnered no applause.
"The Honorable Hakeem Jeffries of the state of New York has received 212," he added, with lawmakers erupting in applause.

Rep. Pete Aguilar took apart "legislative terrorist" Jim Jordan just prior to formally nominating Hakeem Jeffries for speaker.
AGUILAR: A vote today to make the architect of a nationwide abortion ban, a vocal election denier, and an insurrection insider to the speaker of this House would be a terrible message to the country and our allies.
Mr. Speaker, it would send an even more troubling message to our enemies, that the very people who would seek to undermine democracy are rewarded with positions of immense power.
We are talking about someone who has spent his entire career trying to hold our country back, putting our national security in danger, attempting government shutdown after government shutdown, wasting taxpayer dollars on baseless investigations with dead ends, authoring the very bill that would ban abortion nationwide without exceptions, and inviting violence on this chamber.
Even members of his own party called him a legislative terrorist. He once said, “I didn't come to Congress to make more laws,” because words speak for themselves.
When New Yorkers recovering from Hurricane Sandy needed Congress to act, he said no. When wildfires ravaged the west, destroying homes and businesses and those residents needed disaster assistance, he said no. House Democrats are having little success in getting the Washington, D.C., press corps to understand that it is not the Democrats’ job to make Republicans stop hitting themselves, even as those battered Republicans spit on the idea of bipartisanship. What Democrats have been successful at, though, is a unified message. When the Republicans are ready to ask for help, it will be there—for a price.
A two-pronged strategy for Democrats seems to be taking shape, Axios reports, starting with them reaching out to Rep. Patrick McHenry, the temporary speaker, from a group of four moderate Democrats from the Problem Solvers Caucus. They sent a letter to McHenry offering to assist in a vote to “expand the Speaker Pro Tempore's authorities” to deal with urgent priorities, such as Israel and Ukrainian aid and government funding. They would agree to empowering McHenry in 15-day increments in return for votes on those priorities.
Disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn auctioned off a MyPillow cushion signed by Mike Lindell to benefit former Trump adviser Peter Navarro's legal fund.
The auction occurred over the weekend at a "Reawaken America Tour" in Miami, where an audience was instructed to write their names on U.S. currency.
"So when Mike was here yesterday, we showed the pillow up here," Flynn said. "But what he did was he signed it, dated it, and so now what we're gonna do is we're gonna do a fundraiser tithing drill here, and you have to write your name down on the bill, you drop it in that bag, and then once we're done, we're gonna pull it and you're gonna get this, this is the Type 2-0, I should give a commercial for my, like Giza something, and it has, and it's signed by Mike Lindell."
"It'll make, it'll extend your life by at least two years, look at it, look it up," he added.
The pillow was eventually awarded to a woman named Karen, who asked Navarro what job he would have in the next Trump administration.
"I want to prosecute Fauci," Navarro replied.
Navarro is facing contempt of Congress charges after he ignored a congressional subpoena.

During the heated exchange, Hannity pressed Ramaswamy about a number of statements he has made on the campaign trail, particularly as it relates to foreign policy and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, one of his 2024 Republican rivals.
“Why would you call Nikki Haley corrupt?” Hannity asked.
“If you’re making money off your time in government, then I don’t think you’re fit to be president of the United States,” Ramaswamy said.
“A lot of people don’t think you’re qualified because you weren’t even a Republican or voting Republican until, what, 2020?” Hannity replied.
“Well Sean, it depends on what your objectives with this interview are,” Ramaswamy retorted. “I voted libertarian in my first election. I voted Republican in 2020. You’re right, I’m not a partisan hack. I come in from the outside. I’m an independent-minded patriot who speaks the truth.”

Consumer advocacy groups on Wednesday applauded new efforts announced by the Biden administration to rein in banks and other companies that make billions of dollars per year charging Americans what President Joe Biden called "outrageous" hidden fees when they make purchases or use basic financial services.
Speaking in the Rose Garden at the White House, Biden said the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has proposed a new rule that would ban businesses from charging "junk fees"—unexpected "service charges" and other fees that are revealed to a consumer just before an online purchase is finalized by ticketing companies, car rental agencies, and other businesses.
Biden said companies charge the fees "simply because they can" and that banning them will give households across the nation more "breathing room."
"These junk fees can add hundreds of dollars weighing down family budgets, making it harder to pay family bills," said the president. "These junk fees may not matter to the wealthy, but they sure matter to working folks in homes like the one I grew up in."

House Democrats, including the trio from Nevada, who this week all voted to tell Kevin McCarthy “you’re fired” (or words to that effect), made an assortment of points, including but not limited to:
1) McCarthy is an untrustworthy buffoon
2) Republicans built this, it’s their problem
3) Getting rid of McCarthy offers the hope that House dysfunction will end and House Republicans will start governing responsibly.
Nevada Democratic Rep. Dina Titus reiterated the first two points in a statement yesterday. McCarthy “has weakened our democratic institutions, gone back on his promises, called for a bogus impeachment inquiry, and brought us to the brink of a disastrous shutdown. It’s up to Republicans to get their own house in order.”
But there is little if any evidence in support of the third point – that things will somehow be better under a new Republican Speaker.
At the end of May, over objections from his party’s hard-right extremists, McCarthy put a negotiated debt ceiling measure on the House floor, so that Republicans and Democrats both would have a chance to vote on it. It passed with bipartisan majorities, and a default on the nation’s debt that would have cratered the economy was averted.

When the U.S. Supreme Court last year overturned Roe v. Wade, it greenlighted the kind of near-universal abortion restrictions that Idaho lawmakers had spent the previous two years crafting. Gov. Brad Little said the state should turn to helping women who might otherwise have terminated pregnancies.
Wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the words, "Eat the Rich" in his latest online broadcast Friday afternoon, United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain told the union's 145,000 members that brand-new progress made in contract negotiations with the Big Three automakers made one thing clear: "We are winning."
Fain addressed the union as thousands of its members concluded the third week of a "stand-up" strike, in which autoworkers have been gradually called to join the work stoppage to build pressure on the companies—Ford, General Motors (GM), and Stellantis—to provide a fair contract commensurate with their record-breaking profits and including a just transition to renewable energy.
Just minutes before Fain was planning to announce that workers at GM's assembly plant in Arlington, Texas were being called on to join the strike, the automaker told UAW negotiators it would include workers at its electric vehicle factories to be covered under the union's national agreement.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), an advocate for sexual assault victims, offered no defense of Rep. Jim Jordan's Ohio State wrestling controversy as she supported his bid for House Speaker.
On Sunday, CBS host Margaret Brennan asked Mace about allegations that Jordan knew wrestlers were being sexually abused when he was a coach at the school.
"I know you've been outspoken about defending victims of sexual assault," Brennan observed. "Do the past allegations against Jim Jordan that he turned a blind eye to sexual abuse give you any reservations?"
"I — yeah, I'm not familiar or aware with that," Mace replied. "He's not indicted on anything that I'm aware of. And so I don't I don't know anything. I can't speak to that."
"How do you square that?" Brennan pressed. "These are the Ohio State University allegations."
"Yeah, yeah, I don't know anything — I don't know anything about that," Mace insisted. "What I do know is that I've been a very strong voice for women. I've talked to Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise about that."
"I've been a very strong advocate for rape victims, as you mentioned earlier," she added. "And those are the facts and the data that I have to work with. And I've had a very positive experience with him in that regard."
Jordan has been accused of ignoring the sexual abuse of wrestlers during his time at Ohio State.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Sunday lashed out at eight Republicans, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who voted to oust former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
Greene made the remarks during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo a day after Israel suffered a major terrorist attack.
"What happened to Israel could happen to America because our country has been invaded by millions of people from over 160 countries," Greene claimed. "And we've been invaded by people we don't even know where they are."
"And so what we're seeing in Israel could happen to the United States of America," she continued. "And it'd be foolish to ever think that that's not possible."
Bartiromo wondered if Republicans would accelerate their efforts to find a new speaker.
"Has the war on Israel created an expedited situation in terms of getting a speaker in place?" she asked. "Can you walk us through what will take place this week with regard to the speaker of the House?"
"We are in a serious [sic] weakened position, Republicans that control the majority in the House of Representatives," Greene remarked. "I want to remind everyone that we barely control the majority of the House, and that's only one-third of the federal government."
NBC host Kristen Welker challenged Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) after he orchestrated the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) just days before a deadly terrorist attack in Israel.
While speaking to Gaetz on Meet the Press, Welker wondered if the lawmaker took any responsibility for grinding the House of Representatives to a halt during a crisis.
"We stand with the people of Israel," Gaetz opined. "Israel has a right to defend itself."
"Congressman, you say that you stand with Israel, you're ready to defend Israel, and yet you're completely incapable of helping Israel because you've brought Congress to a standstill, a state of paralysis, have you not?" Welker pressed.
"Let me, let me get a word in here, Kristen," Gaetz interrupted.
The congressman shifted the blame to Republicans who called a recess after McCarthy was ousted.
"And if, if [Patrick McHenry] had not made that decision, we would have a speaker right now," Gaetz said.
"Well, that takes me to my next question, Congressman, because you led this effort to oust Speaker McCarthy without a clear replacement in place," Welker noted. "Was that irresponsible on your part?"
"Well, not only do we have a clear replacement, we have two, we have two men who are incredibly respected," Gaetz replied. "So the fact that it's been a constrained race, you are watching the plan play out."
It's Sunday morning and not only are they not acting, we have a leaderless House of Representatives which means a limited response to the absolutely horrible attack on Israel by the terrorist group known as Hamas. Meanwhile, the head of the RNC sees the carnage in Israel as "an opportunity." Just so utterly craven.
This entire week has been exhausting, and now we're on the verge of a new one. What do you hope for the upcoming week?
- Karoli
I'm so glad RNC Chair Ronna Don't-Call-Me-Romney McDaniel could find a bright side to the tragic events in Israel this weekend. Nothing like saying the quiet part out loud if you're a craven political opportunist.
McDaniel made an appearance on Fox News Live this Saturday and was asked about some of the responses made by the Republican candidates running for president following Hamas attacking Israel.
McDaniel was quick to blame Biden for the attack, and to spread the same lie we've been hearing from some of the GOP candidates, liars on Fox, and Trump, that somehow the $6 billion in released assets for Iran is responsible for this attack. Never mind that none of it has even been spent yet.
That won't stop them from using this to attack Biden, pretend that Republicans are better on foreign policy than Democrats (which they aren't) and to gloat that this is some game changer for Republicans in the upcoming presidential election, despite the fact that they've got a leading candidate that's both a criminal, and insane, as McDaniel did here.
This is the latest release from Dolly Parton's album Rockstar, in which she works with both rock legends and today's rock stars and sings some of rock's most classic and iconic songs. The fascinating thing about these songs is that while they are comfortably familiar, Dolly puts her own touch on it, making it new and exciting at the same time. It's like a comfort food that has a new twist to it. But no matter how you describe it, the effect is out of this world.
She did her same magic with Queen's We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You.
Starting in 2024, people who want to buy a new or used electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle will be able to get U.S. government income tax credits at the time of purchase. Via Associated Press:
Eligible buyers, including those that bought an EV or hybrid this year, have had to wait until they filed their federal income tax returns to actually get the benefits.
The Treasury Department says the near-instant credits of $7,500 for an eligible new vehicle and $4,000 for a qualifying used vehicle should lower purchasing costs for consumers and help car dealers by boosting EV sales.
Under the Inflation Reduction Act, which included the credits, buyers can transfer the credits to dealers, which can apply them at the point of sale starting Jan. 1. Plus, the government says people can get the full credits from dealers regardless of how much they owe in federal taxes. The vehicles have to qualify under guidelines spelled out in the law, and buyers’ incomes have to fall below limits.
Starting in 2024, the $7500 federal EV tax credit will be applied as a point-of-sale discount instead of having to wait to file on your cannula income tax return. This simplification is HUGE for EV adoption! https://t.co/ScdwzALH8d

On Thursday, Sean Hannity mocked The View host Sunny Hostin for calling Rep. Jim Jordan a “terrorist” and saying he screamed at and terrorized her.
“The poor little snowflakes got offended that somebody actually, you know, raised their voice slightly,” Hannity said. He put up his hands in mock horror, adding, “Oh, the shame of it.” I can assure you that if Rep. Hakeem Jeffries or AOC had terrorized a Republican, Hannity would have had quite a different take.
Next, Hannity gratuitously brought up his father hitting him with a belt – and suggesting that everyone should go through such a character-building experience: “By the way, my father would hit me with a belt. I didn’t actually raise my voice,” he said. “We used to be the land of the free, home of the brave. When did we become the land of the snowflake?”
This is far from the first time I have heard Hannity talk about his father beating him. Mediaite noted that he once said, “My father punched me in the face when I talked back to him once, and I deserved it.”
That tells you a lot about Hannity.

One of the eleventy bazillion things I didn't like about Trump was that he would lash out at reporters -- usually, women reporters trying to do their job. He would yell at them. Some people are triggered by someone yelling -- lashing out in a heartbeat at the most innocuous things.
President Joe Biden showed us how it's done after he was asked about the idea of Rep. Jim Jordan becoming the next Speaker of the House since Trump endorsed him.
"President, former President Trump endorsed Congressman Jim Jordan for House Speaker," a reporter said. "Could you see yourself working with Congressman Jordan if he is the next Speaker? And do you have any concerns about who might fill that position?"
Biden yelled at the woman, saying, "Fake news. You are the enemy of the people!"
Biden chuckled, which is a perfect initial response, and then he showed us how to President.
"Look, whoever the House Speaker is, I'm going to try to work with," Biden said. "They control half the Congress. And I'm going to try to work with them."
"For some people, I imagine it's going to be easier to work with than others," he added. "But whoever the speaker is, I'll try to work with."
Critics say that Biden has been in politics too long. Well, Trump had zero political experience, and he's been caught sharing our country's secrets for flexing purposes, as if it was Show And Tell time at Mar-a-fucking-Lago.
With more than a year to go until the 2024 presidential election, top advisers to former U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign on Monday night claimed without evidence that the Democratic Party is trying to "steal" the election, echoing the lies spread before the 2020 election that fueled the violent January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
Trump campaign officials called on the Republican National Committee (RNC) to "immediately cancel" the third GOP debate, which is scheduled to take place in Miami on November 8 and which Trump has indicated he will not attend, just as he skipped the first two primary debates.
Senior advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita called on the RNC to essentially terminate the primary election and "end all future debates in order to refocus its manpower and money on preventing Democrats' efforts to steal the 2024 election."
The presidential election is 13 months away, and Team Trump’s groundless claims of another plot to “steal” it from him have begun. No evidence cited. pic.twitter.com/NAGvPJGhX9

As we've already discussed here, Republicans with the help of some propagandists in the media have been floating the notion that Trump should run for House Speaker now that the chaos caucus has ousted Kevin McCarthy. But, as we've also discussed here, and as The New York Post finally admitted this week, there's one little problem with that, which is that House rules don't allow it.
On this Thursday's Fox & Friends, cohost Steve Doocy also finally admitted that the rule about felony indictments would prohibit Trump from being elected Speaker unless they change it, and, in keeping with the tradition we've seen from them that Chris Hayes just discussed the previous evening, which is Republicans and the right constantly trying to blame Democrats for the problems they create, Doocy floated the notion that Democrats would all vote for Trump if someone put his name into nomination, because they're the ones that supposedly want chaos just to Republicans to look bad.
Jim Jordan tossing his hat in Qevin McQarthy's former ring? Is he even qualified?

Yes it sounds like they will totally choose him— Lisa Rexrode Hunter Biden’s Laptop (@rexrode_lisa1) October 4, 2023
If Jim Jordan is elected Speaker of the House, he’ll be as effective as he was at passing the bar, passing legislation, and stopping the sexual assault at Ohio State.

LOLOLOL Let them fight.
Mark Levin addressed Rapey McForehead on the Levin Radio program Monday:
MARK LEVIN (HOST): ...Who is it that's representing the Democrats in Congress? It's you, Matt. You need to put your country ahead of your own personal hatred. Man, you gotta get control of it, brother. But he won't. And so, this is what we're gonna hear for the next two, three, four, five, six weeks over and over and over and over again.
Not the Democrats on defense in the House. Not the Democrats blamed for spending. Not the Democrats blamed for an open border. Not the Democrats blamed for climate change. You won't hear about any of that.
And the Democrat Party media loves this because this is what they're gonna headline day in and day out and day in and -- and this, apparently, is what Gaetz wants. So, if we lose the next election, in part, it's on these guys. And I don't just mean the House and the Senate. I mean the presidency. I'm serious about this!

For once in his miserable life, Florida Man Matt Gaetz is correct about something. Republicans have been trying to claim that President Joe Biden is old and "feeble" while also claiming that he's an evil mastermind who stole the 2020 election from naive and unsuspecting Donald Trump and his supporters and planned the plot out so well that he allowed Republican down-ballot candidates in states Joe cheated to carry, to win even though it would cost the Democrats seats in the House -- He did all of this while pretending to be 'Sleepy Joe.'
Meanwhile, Trump is only three years younger; somehow, age isn't an issue with conservatives regarding the former President. Well, now it's settled. Thanks, Matt Gaetz.
"So, let me get this straight," Gaetz said. "To extend Joe Biden's spending and Joe Biden's policy priorities, the Speaker of the House gave away to Joe Biden the money for Ukraine that Joe Biden wanted."
"It is going to be difficult for my Republican friends to keep calling President Biden feeble while he continues to take Speaker McCarthy's lunch money in every negotiation," he added.
I'm not sure what Rep. Forehead means about Ukraine, but more Republicans want financial assistance for Ukraine than don't. It's only that pro-Putin faction of the Republican Party -- the Crybaby Caucus. And now, Republicans are looking to oust Gaetz from Congress. And Gaetz is trying to oust McCarthy. Fight amongst yourselves, guys.
It does look like McCarthy and Biden could negotiate a deal, though.
Stella Magz takes Lauren Boebert a lesson on what evidence actually is. She then went on to give Boebert examples of what evidence is and what it isn't, using some examples that were "handy." (See what I did there?!) But, as a caveat, I must warn everyone not to hold their breath in the expectation that Boebert is able to understand, much less remember, the lesson. The evidence points to the opposite being true.
Open thread below....
Gen. Mark Milley, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he will take "appropriate measures" to protect himself and his family after the twice-impeached one-termer suggested that he is guilty of treason, and said he should be executed. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg was interviewed on Inside with Jen Psaki, and he calmly and nicely called out Donald Trump over his disdain for the military. Buttigieg is like the most polite sledgehammer ever.
"The level of disrespect for the American military, not to mention for the general, is both shocking and not shocking," Buttigieg said. "I mean, look, this is part of a lifelong pattern with the former president that I would argue was first displayed when he faked a disability in order to avoid having to go to Vietnam and allowed, I assume, some working-class person to go in his place, and has continued ever since."
"Made a name for himself by basically saying that he did not respect John McCain because he was a war hero," he continued. "And look, a lot of this, obviously, is to get attention, and you hesitate to reward that. On the other hand, we do, in fact, still have some boundaries that matter in this country."
"And one of them is that our regard for the military and our respect for the military is nonpartisan, it's nonpolitical, and it's universal," he said. "And that is especially important because that's part of how the military does their job."
