Threats To MSNBC, Typical Of Trump, Are Weird And Dangerous

Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, which he launched to allow him to rage against his successor and perceived enemies daily, to lash out at MSNBC for daring to be critical of the former President. You can't make this stuff up. On top of that, Trump falsely claimed that MSNBC "uses FREE government approved airwaves."

"MSNBC (MSDNC) uses FREE government approved airwaves, and yet it is nothing but a 24 hour hit job on Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party for purposes of ELECTION INTERFERENCE," he wrote. "Brian Roberts, its Chairman and CEO, is a slimeball who has been able to get away with these constant attacks for years."

"It is the world's biggest political contribution to the Radical Left Democrats who, by the way, are destroying our Country," he added. "Our so-called "government" should come down hard on them and make them pay for their illegal political activity. Much more to come, watch!"

The guy who wants back in the White House wants the government to come down on a network "hard" because they hurt his tender feelings.

MSNBC's Chris Hayes said he doesn't know what "triggered" Trump's post and noted that Trump doesn't understand the difference between broadcast and cable. Hayes warned viewers that Trump is speaking of his intent and that he should be taken seriously because Trump's "whining" could turn "into real punitive action."

Brian Stelter, who has been the brunt of attacks from Trump supporters during his time with CNN, weighed in.

Hunter Biden: I'll Testify, But Let's Make It Public, Mkay?

The President's son, Hunter Biden, is like crack to Republicans. Amazingly, they think they have something because of Hunter's past as a drug addict. Nothing from that sort of life looks pretty; ask Donald Trump Jr., although he won't admit to his past—all signs on my drug-ometer point to Junior still partaking in blow.

Biden has offered to testify publicly before Congress in response to a subpoena from Republicans investigating nearly every aspect of his business dealings as they pursue an impeachment inquiry into his father, as they vociferously try to tie Hunter's past misgivings to his father. Hunter Biden did not grant Republicans with a closed-door meeting as requested. This will be public, and it will take place in December.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) really doesn't want Hunter to testify publicly.

Kevin McCarthy Says The U.S. Never Gained Territory Through Wars

Republicans recently ditched the terminally stupid McCarthy as House Speaker because he couldn't navigate in the MAGA-infested waters, replacing him with a relatively unknown Theocrat in Mike Johnson who advocates on behalf of the primacy of God's will over the mundane world of politics.

And they somehow expect things to get better.

Source: Political Zoom

Kevin McCarthy, who rarely passes on an opportunity to display what an idiot he is, posted to Twitter yesterday a video of himself speaking to an audience and forcefully asserting that “In every single war that America has fought, we have never asked for land afterward.”

Yes, that would be the same Kevin McCarthy whose own district, the California 20th, was ceded to the United States – along with the rest of California, Utah, Nevada, and large chunks of Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico – by Mexico in 1848 at the conclusion of the Mexican-American War. And of course that is only the most obvious of contradictions to McCarthy’s rediculous and historically ignorant assertion, the U.S. also acquired territories from Britain after the Revolutionary and 1812 wars, from Spain after the Spanish American conflict and, well, Native Americans would also like a word with the former Speaker…

What a clown.

Contrary to reports, OpenAI probably isn’t building humanity-threatening AI

Has OpenAI invented an AI technology with the potential to “threaten humanity”? From some of the recent headlines, you might be inclined to think so. Reuters and The Information first reported last week that several OpenAI staff members had, in a letter to the AI startup’s board of directors, flagged the “prowess” and “potential danger” […]

Tom Cotton Pushes US Troops As A 'Viable Solution' To Invade Gaza

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Sunday suggested U.S. troops could be deployed into Gaza during Israel's war with Hamas.

During an interview on Fox News, host Shannon Bream asked Cotton about the possibility of using U.S. special forces to extract hostages.

"Well, we should certainly be open to that," Cotton insisted. "I mean, we have elite special operations forces who are specifically trained in hostage rescue. I do think we have to be deferential to Israelis to the Israeli government and Israeli defense forces about the tactical situation on the ground."

"But if American military forces are called upon and provide a viable solution to get out American citizens and the citizens of Israel or other nations, and we have to be open to that," he said. "But again, it's not just those small special operations units that we have trained. We also have aircraft carriers in the region."

Damn, Mother Nature! You Scary!

About a month ago, Scotland was getting slammed by Storm Babet. The storm brought torrential rainfalls and high winds. The rains absolutely saturated the ground. Then the high winds worked the trees to the point of affecting their entire root systems and threatening to topple them over. As a result of these two conditions, the ground began to "move like the sea" and to "breathe deeply." A man walking his dog caught both of these effects on video. If you ask me, the man and the dog are either brave or totally mad, because I know that not one of my dogs would go onto a patch that was moving like that and would probably join me in just saying nope and moving to someplace a little more sane, like Antartica.

'Dutch Donald Trump' Makes Gains In Netherlands

National election results in the Netherlands on Wednesday sent shockwaves across Europe as "hateful far-right Islamophobe" Geert Wilders and his party have won the most seats in parliament and positioned Wilders himself to become the nation's next prime minister.

Wilders, a xenophobic nationalist who is regarded as the "Dutch Donald Trump—but worse" by many of his critics, has for years spewed anti-immigrant rhetoric and speaks openly about making the Netherlands a home only for those he considers pure Dutchmen.

In his victory remarks to supporters following the results, Wilders vowed to end the "tsunami of immigration" he claims is ruining the country and make sure "the Netherlands is for the Dutch again" as his Party for Freedom (PVV)—which won 35 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament—would deliver "hope" once again to Holland.

Ukrainian Drone Catches Russian Occupier With His Pants Down

Russian soldiers continue to die in staggering numbers every day in Ukraine but that doesn't seem to matter to their command as they are just more disposable men to fight, and usually die quickly, for nothing. Ukrainian forces call them bio-waste as Russians don't often claim their dead, just leaving them to fertilize the Ukrainian soil.

With those grim facts in mind, you see a lot of these drone attack videos on social media, often made for comedic effect. Whether you find them funny or not is up to you. The video above is probably not safe for work (NSFW) and wouldn't be allowed on YouTube.

Source: New Voice of Ukraine

Ukrainian drones continue to hunt down Russian military personnel who have "strayed from the herd," catching them in the most inopportune moments.

A video surfaced on social media showing a drone strike on a Russian soldier who was unexpectedly caught in a rather embarrassing situation somewhere near Avdiivka.

While having a "moment of privacy" behind a piece of damaged equipment, the invader did not take into account that he would hardly be able to calmly carry out his "mission" without the constant supervision of the air reconnaissance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and quickly paid the price for his mistake.

Did The Media Just Wake Up And Smell The GOP Fascism?

A funny thing happened on the way to the 2024 horserace. The mainstream media brought Hitler into the conversation.

Trump gave them no choice. He kept amping up his rants in terms that were so explicitly Nazi, so lifted — practically verbatim — from Hitler’s speeches, that it was hard for them to keep ignoring what they’ve willfully ignored for so long.

When Trump used the word ‘vermin’ in his Veteran’s Day speech, he was taking a whole chapter from the fascism playbook. Whether he knew it or not.

Dehumanization — the art of equating human beings with insects — is a classic stochastic terrorism technique, beloved of dictators the world over. In Rwanda in the nineties, the Hutu tribe openly called its rival Tutsis “cockroaches” on the radio, inciting its members to exterminate them with machetes, which they did.

We’ll probably never know who actually wrote the Vermin speech — Stephen Miller or Steve Bannon are likely suspects — but we can be sure it wasn’t Trump. Not that he doesn’t totally embrace Nazi philosophy, it’s just that any philosophy at all is outside his skill set. I’m not sure he has either the cognitive wherewithal or the attention span, let alone the vocabulary, to articulate Nazism. Or anything else.

Voter Fraud Found In Iowa

Voter fraud has been found in Iowa:

Kim Phoung Taylor — wife of Iowa Republican Jeremy Taylor — was found guilty of 52 criminal counts of false voting information, fraudulent registration, and fraudulent voting linked to the 2020 primary, the Justice department said.

Phoung Taylor, 49, stuffed ballot boxes with election forms she coerced Vietnamese immigrants with limited English to complete, local news outlets report.

Trial evidence included testimony from two Iowa State students who discovered someone else had cast ballots in their names when they tried to file absentee, according Iowa Public Radio.

In a way, it's really hard not to feel a little sorry for Mr. Taylor. His wife loved him so much that she was willing to commit voter fraud to support him. Now she is facing five years in prison on each charge.

But perhaps the hardest blow for Taylor is that despite his wife's trying to rig the election for her husband, he still lost the primary. That's really got to hurt.

Watch Fox News Host Lie To Your Meemaw About The Price Of Turkey

#BreakingNews #YouHeardItHereFirst

President Joe Biden is forcing your Nana and Meemaw to buy a $90 turkey this year to celebrate the holiday with your hard-ass-working family. There is a problem: Where do we find $90 BIDEN INFLATION turkeys? Jason Chaffetz said his family bought one of these fancy pants turkeys, but I'm not seeing any out there. Where are they, Jason?

"I mean, we went to go buy a turkey today," Chaffettz's lyin' piehole said. "It was $90 for a turkey. The price of stamps is up 32% in the last four years."

"But it's all a choice by Joe Biden," he added. "That is what Bidenomics is."

Wrong, sunshine. This is what Bidenomics is:

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average cost of a dinner for 10 people will be $61.17, down 4.5% from last year's record of $64.05, and gas prices are down, meaning that you can visit Nana and Meemaw in person this year without putting those costs on your credit card. Airfares are down, too, in case you want to fly to Nana's. Forget Meemaw. She's mad at Nana for telling her she had to buy Inflation-Turkey. And the family fight is now all Jason Chaffetz's fault.

Newsmax Pundit Kicks Trump's Jan 6 Hail Mary Motion: 'Doomed To Fail'

Constitutional attorney Bruce DelValle said Donald Trump's attempt to remove language about Jan. 6 from his election subversion case was always "doomed to fail."

Newsmax asked DelValle to comment on Sunday, just days after U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled that language about Jan. 6 would not be stricken from Trump's indictment.

"I think it is a very difficult, in fact, I know it is a very difficult thing to get information stricken from an indictment in a criminal case, and it's difficult in a civil case," the attorney said. "It was a long shot motion. It was a motion that I think that had more PR dressing than legal dressing. I don't know that they ever thought that they would win."

"Everyone knows it's about January 6th," he added. "And the issues will be whether they can prove President Trump was involved in a culpable manner. I don't think they're going to be able to prove that. But I think President Trump's effort, this legal effort, was doomed to fail at the beginning."

"You simply can't strike out language that the prosecutor thinks is important, because that's what the trial's about."

Backlash Growing Against Univision Over Sucking Up To Trump

The backlash against Univision, the nation’s largest Spanish-language media company, continues to grow for its handling of a recent interview with Trump, as major Latino advocacy groups delivered a letter of protest to the network’s executives and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus prepared to request a meeting with the network. Via the Washington Post:

Actor and comedian John Leguizamo, who recently took a turn as host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” also posted a video on Instagram on Thursday night calling for a boycott of the network until it stopped its rejection of Biden ads, some of which were canceled just before the Trump interview aired.

[...]The pushback comes after a Nov. 7 interview with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida that was arranged with the help of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and attended by a trio of senior executives at Univision’s parent company. The interview was notable for its gracious tone, lack of follow-up questions and Trump’s assertion in the first minutes about owners of the network

[...]“This was Mexican-style news coverage, a repudiation of the concept of separation of business and news,” Blaya said of the Trump interview. “What I saw there was batting practice, someone dropping balls for him to hit out of the park. I think it was an embarrassment.”

CO Judge: Trump Engaged In Insurrection But Can Stay On Ballot

The judge seemed to be asking for a higher court ruling in her decision and there's little doubt that will happen.

The Washington Post called the Colorado ruling “a rebuke” to Trump even as it provided a legal victory:

Denver District Judge Sarah B. Wallace wrote that Trump “acted with the specific intent to disrupt the Electoral College certification of President Biden’s electoral victory through unlawful means; specifically, by using unlawful force and violence.” And, she concluded, “that Trump incited an insurrection on January 6, 2021 and therefore ‘engaged’ in insurrection.”

The ruling goes into great detail about why Section 3 of the 14th Amendment excludes Trump. The Post summarizes:

Wallace determined those who wrote Section 3 “did not intend to include the President as ‘an officer of the United States.’”

The judge also determined that the amendment’s provision technically applied to those who swear an oath to “support” the Constitution. The oath Trump took when he was sworn in after he was elected in 2016 was to “preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution.

Wallace wrote she did not want to disqualify someone from office “without a clear, unmistakable indication” that that was what those who wrote the 14th Amendment intended.

Grim Reaper Of Penal System Finally Comes For George Santos

Finally, George Santos has run into trouble he can't lie, steal or cheat his way out of. The House Ethics Committee unanimously--yes, both Democrats and Republicans, but the latter for self-preservation reasons--voted to refer numerous charges against him to the Justice Department.

It's easy to laugh at him--and of course we do!--as he spent doltish GOP donor money on OnlyFans and Botox. But there's a more general moral (a word he knows not) to the story: Republicans were cool with him when they needed his vote to elect McCarthy Speaker on like the147th try. They knew all of this, Santos was indicted in Brazil, had many charges here and lied about everything from his college to his name.

There was no mystery as to whether he was a sleazy con man or not, just a mystery as to whether they could get ole Kev elected Speaker without him. So they kept this ethical scourge around, ignoring all the people he hurt by conning, robbing and more. But now they'll pretend they're outraged (!) by him.

That's because he'll go to prison, and they need him gone from their caucus pronto, so his stink doesn't rub off on the rest of the criminally corrupt GOP. Because the truth is they're him, and he's them. Most of them are just a bit smarter about hiding it than he is.

Cliff Schecter has a great video breaking it all down. Watch it and SUBSCRIBE to Cliff's YouTube channel for more commentary like this!

Why Did Ethics Committee Nix George Santos Expulsion?

It sounds like the Ethics Committee Chair, Michael Guest (R-MS) was too afraid and/or corrupt to arrive at the obvious conclusion, that Santos deserves at least some kind of punishment.

Fran Langum reported earlier today on the Ethics Committee report. It was scathing but did not make any recommendations for how to punish Santos.

Here’s how The New York Times reported the news that the committee wouldn't recommend any penalty for the New York congressman:

Mr. Guest, a Republican of Mississippi, would not characterize the committee’s findings in its report, which is expected to be released as early as Thursday. But he said that the panel would refrain from making a recommendation as to Mr. Santos’s fate, saying that such a process would have carried out “well into next year.”

Nonetheless, Mr. Guest said that the report should offer members the information they need to make a decision on whether a penalty — be it expulsion or something less severe, like a censure — is appropriate.

The panel has been investigating a range of alleged criminal and ethical violations including accusations that the congressman fraudulently obtained unemployment benefits, failed to properly file financial disclosures, sexually harassed an employee and violated conflict of interest laws.

Moskowitz: Comer Needs To Take A Mental Health Day

Representative Jared Moskowitz joined Chris Hayes to talk about James Comer's meltdown on Tuesday when Moskowitz dared to ask about Comer's own dealings with his brother.

Moskowitz points out that the GOP has been showing a steady decline in their vision, their ability to lead and their own mental stability since January 6th and they aren't showing any signs of trying to pull out of their downward spiral.

If the Chairman is listening, I think he needs a mental health day. They have such thin skin. These Republicans, they like to dish it out, but, man, they just cannot take it. You know, he's been going on TV day in and day out about the brother, about the President, and they did business together, when he wasn't in office by the way. And as soon as there's an article written that the Chairman is doing the exact same thing, All I did was ask the Chairman to explain it and he just totally lost it.

I needed Bernie Sanders to be like, "Sit down, Mr. Chairman!" and put him in his seat. But you saw it. He's been running hearings all year and his own witnesses have said that there's nothing there on Joe Biden, there's nothing for impeachment. And yet, they want to continue this day in and day out. So I'm glad the Chairman exposed himself today..

I would add that Moskowitz does a fairly passable imitation of Sanders.

Elie Mystal On SCOTUS 'Code Of Conduct': Weak Sauce

As soon as I heard yesterday that SCOTUS had released a fake "code of ethics," ...

...I told my colleagues at C&L, "I hope Joy-Ann Reid is gonna have Elie Mystal on this afternoon."

Got my wish.

JOY ANN REID, HOST: Further proof that sunlight is the best disintectant, earlier today the Supreme Court announced for the first time in its 200-plus year history, it has adopted a code of ethics... well, sort of. The fourteen-page document broadly lays out five canons of conduct on issues such as when justices should recuse themselves and what kind of outside activities they can engage in. However, it fails to mention how it will be enforced or who will enforce it. This is a clear effort by the high court to short-circuit an increasing pressure campaign from Senate Democrats to impose a binding ethics code for justices, especially after reports from ProPublica that Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito did not disclose free trips from wealthy right-wing donors. That was turned up last week when the Senate Judiciary Committee debated issuing subpoenas to one of those donors, Harlan Crow, as well as Leonard Leo. Joining me is Elie Mystal, justice correspondent for The Nation. How seriously should we take this ethics code? Let me read a little before I let you answer that. It says here, the absence of a code, however, has led in recent years to the misunderstanding that the justices of the court, unlike all other justices in the country, regard themselves unrestricted by the ethics rules.

QAnon Shaman Files Paperwork For Congressional Run

Because a guy needs a fresh start after being sentenced to Federal prison for his role in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, and what better way is there than to run for Congress to serve in the place you attacked, right?

Chansley has no hope of winning, of course, but that's only because it will be a crowded field of far-right Republicans to succeed Debbie Lesko in AZ-08, each one crazier than the last.

Jacob Chansley, the man dubbed the “QAnon Shaman,” plans to run for Congress in Arizona, according to filed paperwork, just months after being released from jail for his role in the January 6, 2021, attack, where he was memorably filmed shirtless, wearing horns and wandering through the Capitol building.

Chansley filed paperwork to run in Arizona's 8th Congressional District as a Libertarian.

The representative who currently holds that seat, Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.) announced last month she was not running for reelection after serving for more than five years in Congress.

Images of Chansley’s unique appearance—he was wearing a horned fur hat and had his face painted with the American flag— became synonymous with the January 6 attack.

Trump Goes 'Off Teleprompter' Then Things Go Terribly Wrong

Speaking to a crowd in Claremont, New Hampshire, former President Donald Trump once again seemed confused by who the current President of the U.S. is- also his opponent since he will likely secure the GOP nomination. Trump said he was "going off teleprompter," and then things got even worse.

But before that, Trump, who previously misdentified Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán as the 'leader of Turkey," told his crowd of lint-licking supporters that the Hungarian leader had pushed for former President Barack Obama's resignation just a few weeks ago.

Trump described Orbán as "very powerful" and added that they were interviewing him [Orbán] two weeks ago, and they said, 'What would you advise President Obama? The whole world seems to be exploding and imploding?' And he said, 'It's very simple. He should immediately resign, and they should replace him with President Trump, who kept the world safe.'"

For our Trump-supporting readers: The current President is Joe Biden. Biden's predecessor is Bloaty McBatshit. Barack Obama is the President who lives in Trump's mind 24/7. You're welcome!

But sure, do go off about President Biden's mental acuity while Trump is one week away from walking around with a drool cup.

The H/T goes to Meatball:

Maria Bartiromo Urges Jim Jordan To Impeach Biden Before Election

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday urged House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) to move forward quickly with an impeachment of President Joe Biden before he is re-elected.

"Tell us what your expectations are in terms of this investigation, and will it lead to an impeachment of Joe Biden?" Bartiromo asked Jordan during a Sunday interview.

"I believe we will get the depositions and the interviews done in this calendar year and then make a decision early next year whether there are actual evidence warrants going to articles of impeachment and moving to that stage of the investigation," Jordan replied.

Bartiromo suggested Biden should be impeached before he can participate in the 2024 presidential election.

"Well, the timing is important," she said. "We've got an election next year. President Trump is facing four indictments, and you've got this dereliction of duty."

Jordan responded by quoting Donald Trump.

"He said they come after him because he's fighting for us," he explained. "That is true. That's what the swamp does. They're going after President Trump because he kept his word, and he's fighting for us."

GOP: We Lost On Tuesday Because Of Money, Not Abortion

Scott Walker took a break from freeloading at the Ray Gun Ranch to pen an op ed in the right wing rag Washington Times. You can tell he wrote it himself by the fact that it makes no damn sense, grammatically or logically. In the article, Walker claims that the Republicans got their asses handed to them on Tuesday wasn't because of abortion but because the Democrats had more money:

Money, money, money.

Money, not abortion, was the deciding factor in the elections this past Tuesday. Liberals had a financial advantage in five of the six states where major races took place this week. Not surprisingly, they won in five of those six states.

The Republicans have tried similar arguments before. For example, they would justify their right to work laws or Citizens United by claiming that unions spent just as much money, if not more, than businesses. Studies showed that the reality was that companies spent exponentially more than the ten biggest unions combined.

Walker also seems to have conveniently forgotten that the GOP is the party of the wealthy. They have people like the Kochs,, Diane Hendricks and the Bradley Foundation that will give them millions of dollars above and below the table like it was nothing.

Addressing The White Nationalist Elephant In The Room

It was striking how violent Republican candidates were at Wednesday's debate.

Fox's Watters Baselessly Accuses Biden DOJ Of Blackmail Following Brothel Bust

Fox's Jesse Watters used the bust of a "high-end profile brothel network" to attack the Biden DOJ and accuse them of blackmail, and to take some more cheap shots at Hunter Biden. As CNN reported this week, the DOJ announces arrests in ‘high-end brothel network’ used by elected officials, military officers and others :

Three individuals have been arrested on charges of operating a “high-end brothel network” in Massachusetts and Virginia with a clientele that included elected officials, military officers and government contractors with security clearances, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.

“Pick a profession,” Joshua Levy, acting US attorney for Massachusetts, said of the sprawling client list during a press conference in Boston. “They’re probably represented in this case.”

Levy did not identify any of the brothel’s clients and noted that multiple search warrants are being executed in the case in Massachusetts, California and Virginia. [...]

“This case goes back to the summer of 2022 when investigators identified several buyers through surveillance phone records and interviews,” Levy said. “The buyers who made up this ring hail from an array of professions.”

Ivanka's Day In Court Was Hugely Awful For Her Daddy

The morning session of Ivanka Trump’s testimony in the New York fraud trial ended with a series of objections from her attorney that temporarily had Ivanka sent off to wait in chambers while Judge Arthur Engoron listened to the two sides bicker. Despite this, most of the morning was spent with Ivanka responding to documents, answering questions, and generally being a more cooperative witness than her father and her brothers.

Donald Trump spent his testimony on Monday railing against Engoron, attacking New York Attorney General Letitia James, and sneering about the injustice of it all. But Ivanka smiled at the prosecutors, laughed along with Engoron’s jokes, and appeared to study documents with the scrutiny of a student taking the SAT—even if her response after many of these high-scrutiny sessions was “I don’t recall.”

Trump Gripes: 'The Court Was The Fraudster Of The Case'

Former President Donald praised himself for what he called "conclusive" evidence after he testified at his $250 million fraud trial.

During his contentious appearance on the witness stand, prosecutors grilled Trump to prove damages in the fraud case. The witness repeatedly gave them the ammunition they were looking for.

But following his testimony, Trump claimed to have the upper hand.

"This is a case that should have never been brought," he ranted outside a New York courthouse. "It's a case that should be dismissed immediately. The fraud was on behalf of the court."

Trump repeated his claim that the court had found his Mar-a-Lago home was worth "only $18 million."

"They had no idea what the numbers were when they said $18 million for Mar-a-Lago. And it's 50 to 100 times that amount by any estimation. It's a terrible thing that's happened here. We're taking days and days and weeks and weeks, and it goes on, and then you look at the outside world and what's happened," he said, trailing off.

Trump then referred to his own testimony.

"And this is a case that should have never been brought, and it's a case that now should be dismissed. Everybody saw what happened today," he said. And I think you saw what I had to say today and it was very conclusive."

InfoWars J6er Lawyer Cries About Prosecutors 'Having Thumb On Scale'

Those poor, poor mistreated January 6th insurrectionists. As we discussed here back in August of 2021, InfoWars host Owen Shroyer was none too happy when he informed his audience that he had until the following Monday to turn himself into authorities:

A host for the far-right conspiracy website InfoWars was charged in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot this week – with federal prosecutors alleging he broke the terms of a deal to avoid charges from a January 2020 arrest.

[...]

Shroyer is in even more legal jeopardy than most, as he also interrupted a House Judiciary Committee hearing in December 2019. Part of his sentencing was 32 hrs of community service, which Shroyer never did.

In mid-September, Shroyer was finally sentenced to two months in prison.

Now his lawyer Norm Pattis is running to Steve Bannon's network to whine about how terribly unfair it is that his client has been put in solitary confinement for a second time, and claiming that "the D.C. prosecutors office has their thumb on the scale for punishment of J6ers."

Here's more on that from the Independent:

President Zelensky Calls Putin A ‘F--ing Terrorist’

This war comes down to whether we stop the terrorist Putin in Ukraine or we don't. And if we don't he'll keep coming. For the Ukrainians this war is simple: Fight or die.

Source: Daily Beast

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not mince words when discussing his Russian opponent Vladimir Putin during a Meet the Press interview on Sunday. “I have a lot of power, back even feeling strong. And I have a lot of energy,” he said when asked what kept him going. “It doesn’t mean that we want to fight all our lives because the price is high, like I said. Because the war takes the best of us, the best heroes, the best men, women, children. That’s it. But we are not ready to give our freedom to this f—ing terrorist, Putin. That’s it. That’s why we are fighting. That’s it.”

Trump Promises 'Ideological Screening' For Immigrants During Florida Rally

During a rally in Kissimmee, Florida this Saturday, Trump promised an even more extreme version of his 2017 travel ban. As The Daily Beast reported, this is something he rolled out last month not long after the Hamas attack in Israel.

Donald Trump’s travel ban is back and more extreme than ever.

The former president rolled out a new and more ideologically-driven version of his 2017 policy at a rally in Iowa on Monday, first revealed in excerpts released by the Trump campaign.

He called for “strong ideological screening” for all immigrants entering the United States, in addition to suspending refugee resettlement by reinstating the Trump administration’s 2017 travel ban, which was targeted primarily at majority-Musilm countries. Trump pegged the new travel ban to the recent Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.

Trump listed several ideologies that would “disqualify” someone from immigrating to the United States.

“If you empathize with Radical Islamic terrorists and extremists, you're DISQUALIFIED—if you want to abolish the state of Israel, you're DISQUALIFIED,” Trump’s prepared speech read. “If you support Hamas or the ideology behind Hamas, you're DISQUALIFIED—and if you're a Communist, Marxist, or Fascist, you are DISQUALIFIED.”

Only The Best People, Part Infinity Plus One

Federico Klein, a former Trump appointee who participated in the J6 insurrection, was sentenced to 70 months in prison:

Federico Klein, 45, was convicted in July on 12 charges, including assaulting officers and obstructing an official proceeding.

Prosecutors said Klein was in the first wave of rioters to enter a Capitol tunnel on 6 January 2021.

"You can't stop this!" he said, wedging open doors with a stolen police shield.

The former Marine spent more than an hour pushing against the line of officers and encouraged others to attack police, according to evidence at trial.

At the time, Klein was working as a South America specialist at the state department, a post he was appointed to by the Trump administration in 2017.

There's speculation that Klein felt he needed to commit these crimes to keep his job. That sure didn't work out for him.

Well, at least he'll have lots of time to become friends with the other cockroaches.

Judge Luttig Explains Why Trump Is Disqualified From Presidency

Jordan Rubin also interviewed Judge Michael Luttig for Deadline's Law blog. Luttig has been at the center of the biggest legal and democracy issues of our time, and explains how Donald Trump is disqualified from retaking the White House under the 14th Amendment, why the former president is not immune from prosecution, and what a second Trump term would mean for the country.

Jordan Rubin: Judge, you’ve been thinking a lot lately about this 14th Amendment issue. Why is it so important to democracy, in your view?

J. Michael Luttig: Section 3 of the 14th Amendment ... disqualifies any person who, having taken an oath to support the Constitution of the United States, thereafter engages in an insurrection or rebellion against the Constitution of the United States, disqualifying that person from holding high public office in the future, including the presidency.

So it’s more than just a proscription and disqualification for anti-democratic conduct by an individual, but, in this circumstance, it is that and it would apply in this instance to disqualify the former president from holding the presidency again, because of his effort, plan and attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election, knowing that he had lost that election to then-candidate Joe Biden.

Speaker Mike Johnson: 'I Refuse To Put People Over Politics'

A typo or a Freudian slip? Whatever it was, new House Speaker Mike Johnson's first fundraising e-mail did not go according to plan.

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

Source: The Hill

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) appeared to get his words mixed up in one of his first fundraising emails since taking the top House job last week.

Johnson capped a standard fundraising message Friday with a new turn on a familiar phrase: “I refuse to put people over politics.”

That apparent mix-up garnered jeers from House Democrats and their allies, eager to go after the new leader.

The unfortunate e-mail.

The reaction was as you'd expect.

WATCH: Cop Flashes White Power Sign At Don Jr. On Courthouse Steps

I sure hope the cop didn't want to keep his job after flashing Donald Trump Jr. the white power sign as he arrived at the court to testify Wednesday. That looks like the three-finger salute to me, and people on the Internet picked that up quickly, too. Now, does that mean that it's Junior's fault? No.

But I've never had someone flash me a racist sign, so I'm just saying that the Trumps attract disgusting individuals. If someone flashed that sign to one of us, we'd be asking what the fuck he's doing instead of acting as if it's normal.
