Florida Out $218 Million For Shuttered 'Alligator Alcatraz'

We can thank the Miccosukee tribe for shutting down Trump's concentration camp when the rushed project failed to do any environmental impact assessment at all in the sensitive wetlands area. And certainly Ron DeSantis wasn't going to do it either. Now, Florida is out a minimum of $218 million, all because these people don't know what the hell they're doing.

Source: Associated Press

Orlando AP — Florida could be on the hook for $218 million the state spent to convert a remote training airport in the Everglades into an immigration detention center dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”

The center may soon be completely empty as a judge upheld her decision late Wednesday, ordering operations to wind down indefinitely.

Shutting down the facility for the time being would cost the state $15 million to $20 million immediately, and it would cost another $15 million to $20 million to reinstall structures if Florida is allowed to reopen it, according to court filings by the state.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management will lose most of the value of the $218 million it has invested in making the airport suitable for a detention center, a state official said in court papers.

Built in just a few days, the facility consists of chain-link cages surrounding large white tents filled with rows of bunk beds.

Crybaby Pee Pants Throws Tantrum Over Ruling That His Tariffs Are Illegal

Predictably, Donald J. Trump is having a meltdown after an appeals court ruled on Friday that most of his tariff tantrums are illegal, and Crybaby Pee Pants is not happy. Even though Trump was not seen by the White House press pool yesterday or today, he is in full rage-machine mode on Truth Social. So, he's still alive. Get your mind out of the gutter, where mine is, hoping that his janky-ass, bruised hands are a sign of rigor mortis.

As Paul Krugman explains, "The court didn’t say that tariffs per se are illegal. It said that the procedure Trump used to impose tariffs — declaring an economic emergency, then setting tariff rates without so much as consulting Congress, let alone passing legislation — is illegal," and we kind of knew that already, but Trump doesn't understand rules because he's a whiny little titty baby that has never grown up.

To Trump, the appeals court committed lèse-majesté, as he claims, "ALL TARIFFS ARE STILL IN EFFECT!"

Urgent: Please Call These Two California Assembly Members To Support SB749

The Pacific Palisades wildfires destroyed many mobile home parks in their wake, leaving residents such as myself out in the cold.

State Sen. Ben Allen introduced California Senate Bill (SB) 749 to protect residents and keep some form of affordable housing in Los Angeles.

Here is what some of the bill does:

Preserves Affordable Housing: SB 749 is designed to preserve mobilehome parks, which serve as an essential source of unsubsidized affordable housing in California.

Protects Residents from Displacement: The bill aims to protect mobilehome residents from sudden displacement caused by park closures or repurposing by providing advance notice and an opportunity to purchase.

Supports Community Ownership: It creates a pathway for residents and community-based organizations to acquire and manage mobilehome parks, fostering community control and stability.

It's no surprise that realtors and park owner associations are fighting to thwart the passage of this bill.

Tahitian Terrace just learned that SB 749 is still stuck in the Assembly Appropriations Committee suspense file. This is the very last step before it can move to the whole Assembly for a vote. If it doesn’t get released tomorrow, the bill dies this year.

Susan Collins Brutally Heckled At Maine Ribbon-Cutting

Mercilessly heckled and well deserved. If Mainers have any sense at all, they'll turf Collins next and replace her, with Platner or Janet Mills or someone else. Anyone is better than her.

Source: Fox News

Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, faced repeated heckling from protesters on Tuesday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of a $9.2 million federally-funded Route 1 reconstruction project.

Collins’ remarks on securing federal money for the project were repeatedly drowned out, showing both her challenges on the home front and the broader fight for Senate control.

Collins, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee, has cast the Route 1 project as a major win for Maine communities.

Protesters, however, shouted her down with chants of "Shame! Shame! Shame!" while raising grievances over Medicare, Israel policy and her voting history for Trump-supported bills.

Her Democrat challenger, Graham Platner, quickly seized on the moment, sharing a close-up video of the heckling on X that has nearly 4k likes.

Trump Praises North Korean Dictator To South Korean President

Donald Trump couldn't help himself.

He sat there in his tacky office gushing over North Korean dictator Kim Jung-un while holding a presser with South Korean President. Lee Jae Myung.

A reporter asked Trump when he would meet again with the human rights-violating North Korean dictator, who opened the door for him to praise South Korea's biggest enemy.

TRUMP: I like to have a meeting. I get along great with him.

You know, you were there. We even had a press conference. He had his first press conference. Kim Jong-un had a press conference.

This was a little different press conference. I said, have you done a press conference before?

No. And you know what?

He did great.

It was a great press conference, actually. It was historic.

I doubt he's done one since.

But I said, would you like to meet the fake news, because whatever you want to do — and they came in, and they came in like you've never seen anything like it.

And then he said, enough. And that was the end of the press conference.

That was the end. It ended very rapidly.

But I think he had a good time.

I look forward to meeting with Kim Jong-un in the appropriate future.

Demented Donald never passes up a chance to praise and glorify murderous dictators around the world.

Trump Threatens Chris Christie

Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday to threaten to investigate former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie over a 2013 political scandal, just days after the F.B.I. raided the home of John Bolton, another former Trump official turned critic. Christie tore into comments from Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell when she said Trump was not guilty of any wrongdoing while heaping praise on the felonious president.

"She might as well have taken out Donald Trump or President Trump and said, the man who can pardon me has never done anything wrong," he said on ABC's This Week. "The man who can pardon me has always been wonderful."

"Look, Ghislaine Maxwell recruited 15- 16-year-old girls to be sex slaves to Jeffrey Epstein, and she was convicted of that in federal court," he continued. "Why should we believe a damn thing Ghislaine Maxwell has to say about anyone?"

Christie also discussed the raid on Bolton's home, noting the administration's disregard for the idea of separation between the president and criminal investigations. Trump, in turn, threw a fit on his social site.

'Send In The Troops': Trump Goes Nuclear After Dem Governor Sends 'Nasty' Letter

President Donald Trump lashed out at Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) after receiving an invitation to participate in a public safety walk on the streets of Baltimore.

In a letter to the White House last week, Moore urged Trump to use Maryland's model for fighting crime instead of deploying federal troops like the administration did in Washington, D.C.

"If there's anything Maryland has proven over the last two years, it's that we can achieve performance without being performative," Moore wrote. "Progress requires the right tool for the right mission. Asking the patriotic citizen soldiers of our National Guard to police our cities doesn't meet that test."

In a Sunday post on Truth Social, Trump accused Moore of using a "rather nasty and provocative tone" in his invitation to "walk the streets of Maryland."

"As President, I would much prefer that he clean up this Crime disaster before I go there for a 'walk,'" Trump said. "Wes Moore's record on Crime is a very bad one, unless he fudges his figures on crime like many of the other 'Blue States' are doing."

"But if Wes Moore needs help, like Gavin Newscum did in L.A., I will send in the 'troops,' which is being done in nearby D.C., and quickly clean up the Crime," he continued. "Stop talking and get to work, Wes. I'll then see you on the streets!!!"

George Conway Says Trump Turned GOP Into A Mob Organization

George Conway believes that an authoritarian MAGA mentality existed in the Republican Party before Donald Trump — and some of the clues lie with Sarah Palin. Via Yahoo News:

During Wednesday’s “Mehdi Unfiltered” podcast, Conway, a former Republican and The Lincoln Project co-founder, discussed with host Mehdi Hasan the through-line from Palin to Trump and the MAGA signs that existed back when she was tapped to be John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate in 2008.

“Barack Obama once said that there’s a straight line from Sarah Palin to Donald Trump,” Hasan said. “The appointment of Sarah Palin – that was a precursor to Trump.

“I think it was one of the canaries in the coal mine,” Conway agreed.

I wouldn’t believe any GDP data, unemployment rates, inflation rates etc coming out of this administration. They are keeping 2 sets of books just like every mob organization in America. Trump has always kept 2 sets of books!

Trump Claims Nobody Knows What A.I. Is Except Him

The doddering old fool tried to discuss artificial intelligence with the press and was so enamored with it that he claimed many people don't know what it is.

Demented Donald sounded like this was the first time he had heard of AI and was wowed by it.

What rock is this man living under?

TRUMP: We wouldn't be able to compete with China's AI.

And now we're totally leading the AI race and the artificial intelligence. It's a big deal. And it's the hottest thing there is for probably in 35, 40 years. A lot of people don't know what it is.

Just trust me.

It's very hot.

It's big.

But they need massive amounts of electricity.

They need more electricity than we have right now in the whole country, servicing everything.

In other words, we have to at least double it up to be competitive and to be leading.

Is he trying to create Frankenstein's monster?' "We need more electricity!! Igor, pump the flues.'

AI has exploded in recent years, leading the tech explosion in the NASDAQ, so yes, everybody's heard of AI.

That's what "mostly everybody's been talking about" since then.

You have to be a true narcissistic imbecile to claim nobody's heard of A.I.

WH Official: Slavery Exhibits Are Indoctrination By Museums

On Wednesday, Donald Trump sicced his racist thought police on museums and other cultural institutions for being too antislavery.

Trump wrote, "WOKE." The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been."

How good is slavery, Demented one?

This is sick on so many levels, but Lindsey Halligan, a Special Assistant to the President (yeah), joined Newsmax to defend his racism by claiming museums are hiding the truth by performing political experiments.

Lindsey needs a lot more practice getting her words out. Did she major in communications? Uh huh.

HALLIGAN: The classroom shouldn't be a stage upon which teachers can preach their various indoctrinations masquerading as eternal truths.

And similarly, museums that are over 70% funded by the federal government, shouldn't be laboratories for political experiments.

And so what we're doing is we just sent a letter to the Smithsonian asking for all information regarding their exhibits and their placards to try to get to the bottom of what happened and where the Smithsonian went wrong -- and try to make the Smithsonian amazing and great and live up to what the president wants the Smithsonian and D.C. to be.

It's the capital of our city and we need to make it amazing and great and beautiful.

Lame Fox Show Tries To Pin Traffic Accident On Newsom's 'Sanctuary' Policies

Sorry Greg Gutfeld, but neither one are responsible for the tragic traffic accident in Florida caused by an undocumented immigrant who had his license issued in California. The yappers on the Fox propaganda channel have been really unhappy with California Gov. Gavin Newsom for getting the better of Trump by trolling and mocking him on the Nazi bird site these days, so they're ready to come after him and deflect from the fact that he's been making Trump look like the fool that he is in a way that they're floundering to respond to.

So it's no surprise that the network is running with nonstop attacks on Newsom, aiding and abetting the Trump administration's attacks trying to blame Newsom for the death of three people in an accident in Florida involving a driver who was an undocumented immigrant.

The San Francisco Chronicle has a good article explaining why the attacks are BS: White House gets key facts wrong as it blames California for 3 traffic deaths in Florida:

The White House on Monday blamed California’s “sanctuary” policies for a fatal crash in Florida allegedly caused by an undocumented semitruck driver, even though the Trump administration acknowledged the driver had a federal work permit.

'Fake News!': Trump Comes Unglued Over Coverage Of Putin Summit Failure

Donald Trump launched into a rage on Truth Social over the well-deserved negative media coverage around his failed summit with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The Trump-Putin summit resulted in no ceasefire agreement, which the President had sought, or the public commitment he wanted from Putin to meet with Zelenskyy. As Ellen noted, "Trump boasted he would end the war on his first day in office, but he couldn’t broker even a ceasefire with Russia on his 208th day." The summit was embarrassing, but par for the course with Trump. So now, Trump is mad that the media isn't distorting the summit into some sort of victory for him.

"It’s incredible how the Fake News violently distorts the TRUTH when it comes to me," he insisted. "There is NOTHING I can say or do that would lead them to write or report honestly about me. I had a great meeting in Alaska on Biden’s stupid War, a war that should have never happened!!!"

"If I got Russia to give up Moscow as part of the Deal, the Fake News, and their PARTNER, the Radical Left Democrats, would say I made a terrible mistake and a very bad deal," he added in a separate post. "That’s why they are the FAKE NEWS! Also, they should talk about the 6 WARS, etc., I JUST STOPPED!!! MAGA"

Duckworth: Compares Trump's White House To Hussein's Toilet

Rep Tammy Duckworth was talking to a crowd in Illinois when she started in on Trump's renovations at the White House. It was like she was reading a critique from Bitter White Houses and Slabbed Over Rose Gardens:

So I got to tell you, it's been a really tough few months in Washington. It's not been easy. Every day we see Trump, the five-time draft-dodging coward, and his Republican co-conspirators, they find new and increasingly cruel ways to hurt our country, making America so-called great only for billionaires, big corporations, and those with the narrowest, most backward views of what this country is and what it stands for.

Have you even seen what he's done to the White House, how much gold and gilding he's put in that? It is gaudy and ugly and it's not what America is about. And the last time I was in a room that gaudy and ugly was Saddam Hussein's toilet. And we flushed him down the toilet.

At least in Hussein's toilet, the turd got flushed. The Orange Turd in the White House has the entire sewer backing up with all sorts of shit. Everything but Trump's tax forms and Epstein's list.

Trump: Putin Told Me That The Big Lie Is True!

After the Orange Sphincter rolled over and did other good boy tricks for his best friend after Jeffrey Epstein, Russian President Vladimir Putin, he went on air with Sean Hannity to repeat the propaganda Putin wanted him to say before he forgot it. Although it's impossible to tell which compulsive liar told which lies, there were some doozies, including the resurrection of The Big Lie:

Well Vladimir Putin said something, one of the most interesting things. He said uh your election was rigged because you have mail-in voting. He said mail-in voting every election. He said no country has mail-in voting. It's impossible to have mail-in voting and have honest elections. And he said that to me. It was very interesting because we talked about 2020. He said you won that election by so much and that's how he got it. He said and if you would have won we wouldn't have had a war. You'd have all these millions of people alive now instead of dead. And he said and you lost it because of mail-in voting. It was a rigged election. But mail-in voting, Sean.

'Pathetic': Newsom Tears Into Trump Over ICE Arrests Outside Rally

In a nauseating spectacle, masked and armed federal agents made arrests outside of a Los Angeles museum, where Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, on Thursday, was announcing plans to redraw the state's congressional map to offset the GOP's redistricting efforts in Texas. Instead of calming the waters, the Trump administration made it worse as the scene unfolded on TV. We don't even know what the arrests were about, and whether the individuals were undocumented or not, but Donald does everything for show as if America is a circus and he's the sadistic ringleader.

Trump couldn't counter Newsom's warning that California will unrig Donald's attempt to add seats for Republicans in Texas to fix the upcoming elections for his party. And he's doing this because he doesn't want to face a referendum on his second term by getting curb-stomped in the Congressional elections.

Newsom told reporters at the anticipated press conference that "we're affirming our independent commission, and we're calling for a national independent commission as well." Newsome did warn Trump that this would happen to even the playing field, rather than tilting it in the GOP's favor.

Trump's Economy Is So Bad, He's Cancelling Monthly Jobs Numbers

During Tuesday's White House press briefing, AI Press Bot Karoline Levitt said Trump may dump the monthly jobs report and issue it quarterly instead.

This is laughable even for the demented baby. Trump is the only person claiming the BLS reports are fixed against him with a flawed methodology. Hence, hiring a person like Antoni is a ridiculously transparent attempt to cover up Trump's horrific job creation economy.

Every economist and Wall Street analyst understands the methodology behind the BLS data collection methodology, but with his yo-yo tariffs, creating good US jobs is not happening.

REPORTER: I know you said earlier the hope is to maintain monthly job reports, but the President's new nominee for BLS, Commissioner E.J. Antoni, recently told Fox Business that the BLS should suspend issuing monthly job reports and only issue quarterly reports until the jobs data methodology is corrected. So, does the President disagree with that assessment that his nominee has said there, or is suspending these monthly job reports a real option?

LEAVITT: I think he floated the idea of possibly suspending until they can get the data and the methodology in order.

And this President wants to ensure that the BLS, again, is putting out accurate and honest data that the American people can trust.

Since you brought up the new commissioner, he holds a master's and a doctor's [doctorate? Come on, Karoline.] degree in economics from Northern Illinois University.

Republican's Town Hall Goes Pear-Shaped Fast

When you hold your first town hall in eight years, and you hold it on a Monday morning at your local Elk Lodge and 1000 angry people show up, in the reddest district in California, you're probably not going to have a good time. And that's just what happened to Rep. Doug LaMalfa yesterday. Angry farmers, upset with Trump's tariffs and immigration policies that make it next to impossible to get enough workers, weren't in any mood to listen to LaMalfa's bullshit, and frequently booed and jeered him with profanities.

Source: ABC News

Republican Rep. Doug LaMalfa got an earful at an in-person town hall in Chico, California, Monday morning -- hearing it from attendees upset about his vote for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the Epstein files and President Donald Trump's tariffs harming Californian farmers.

"No fascism in America!" one man yelled as LaMalfa explained he was "in the room" on Jan. 6, attempting to reshape the narrative around the insurrection at the Capitol. "You need to be impeached!" the man said.

"Put that finger down. That's really mature," LaMalfa said as another man apparently flipped him off.

"Bull----!" the man continued to yell, calling out President Donald Trump's pardons for Jan. 6 rioters.

It didn't get any easier from there.

Did A Viral Video Cost UCLA $1 Billion?

This speech occurred at UCLA's College of Letters and Science commencement ceremony on June 13-15, 2025. The speaker is Jamie Han, a first-generation immigrant and communications graduate.

Source: LA Times

Hours after the Trump administration demanded that the University of California pay a $1-billion fine to settle federal accusations of antisemitism in exchange for restoring frozen grant funding to UCLA, Gov. Gavin Newsom called the proposal “extortion” and said the state will go to court to protect the nation’s premier university system.

“We’ll sue,” Newsom said during a news conference with Texas legislators over California’s effort to counter a contentious Republican redistricting plan in that state.

President Trump is “trying to silence academic freedom” by “attacking one of the most important public institutions in the United States of America,” Newsom said, adding that he would “stand tall and push back against that, and I believe every member of California Legislature feels the same way.”

The federal government on Friday said UC should pay the billion-dollar fine in installments and contribute $172 million to a fund for Jewish students and other individuals affected by alleged violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. The statute covers illegal discrimination related to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, including Jewish and Israeli identity.

C&L's Late Night Music Club With James Moody

Classically trained Hubert Laws has always been my favorite jazz flutist and an inspiration, but purely as a jazz player, James Moody ranks below no one.

Moody's dazzling technique knocked me for a loop, and since the first time I heard him I was smitten.

James Moody (March 26, 1925[1] – December 9, 2010) was an American jazz saxophone and flute player and occasional vocalist, playing predominantly in the bebop and hard bop styles. Moody was an international jazz star since 1949. Quincy Jones called him a national treasure. Moody was known for his virtuosic playing, his ability to seamlessly blend distinctive styles, and his infectious personality. He was a master of the saxophone and the flute, and his music remains an inspiration to musicians and jazz lovers all over the world.

Pete Hegseth, drunk former FOX News journalist, architect of Signalgate and current occupant of the Secretary of Defense role, continues to bring shame to our country.

Hegseth continues to think our country should bed led by a Handmaid's Tale type of government, comprised of White Christian Men. And he has not made that view ambiguous. He has demoted or fired women and people of color, erased both groups from military history at the Pentagon and even starting leading Christian prayer services at the Pentagon. Completely unheard of and incredibly offensive to all other religions.

Well, he has gone even further this week. On Thursday evening, Hegseth reposted a video from a pastor of a Christian Nationalist Church that included pastors saying that women should no longer be able to vote! This was posted on Twitter.

In the post itself, Hegseth "All of Christ for All of Life". The video embedded was a seven minute long report by CNN about Doug Wilson, one of the founders of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches. This "church" wants women to lose their right to vote and actually wants households to count as one vote only.

WUT.

When asked about the horrifically awful views, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell doubled down, saying that Hegseth is a MEMBER OF A CHURCH affiliated with CREC and that he “very much appreciates many of Mr. Wilson’s writings and teachings.”

A big game hunter has been gored to death by the buffalo he was hunting for a trophy kill in South Africa.

Asher Watkins, 52, who made his millions trading ranches in the US, was on a £7,500 organised hunting safari last week with Coenraad Vermaak Safaris - stalking a 200 stone buffalo through the bush.

But the hunter became the hunted when the buffalo launched a fatal charge, killing him near instantly at the 50,000-acre Bambisana concession.

Locals refer to the buffalo found in the region, Cape buffalo, as the "Black Death" thanks to their record of causing around 200 fatalities each year and for killing more game hunters than lions, rhinos or crocodiles.

From his social media page, it's clear that Watkins was an avid hunter, and believed it was essential to preserve wildlife. His page shows him holding various trophies he'd collected over the years, including mountain lion and several deer.

ICE Is Melting. Mellltiiiing!

Arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents dropped nearly 20% in July—and according to Axios, the Trump administration isn’t happy about it.

Data from the nonpartisan Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse nonprofit at Syracuse University shows that ICE made an average of 990 arrests per day between July 1 and July 27. That’s down from 1,224 daily arrests in June and nowhere near the 3,000 daily goal once floated by senior Trump adviser Stephen Miller. (That benchmark, notably, hasn’t appeared in any court filings.)

Jasmine Crockett Does Not Hold Back On 'Piece Of Shit' Donald Trump

Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett did not hold back when speaking at a MoveOn event in Phoenix, Arizona, criticizing Donald Trump over the Supreme Court's decision to grant him immunity, which some liken to granting him a king's power. Crockett, never one to mince words, just came out and called Trump "a piece of shit." Fact check: True.

She argued that in a functioning democracy, Trump wouldn't evade accountability for his actions, calling him "a piece of shit" amid cheers from the audience. And of course, sane Americans can see how he's a threat, and the Supreme Court is complicit in this undermining of democratic norms.

"Because the Supreme Court has paved the way for half the stuff that we see that's going on," she said. "Listen, Donald Trump is a piece of shit. Okay, we know that. Yes, he is."

"But in a functioning democracy, he still would not be able to get away with this," she continued. "But he's been able to get away with this because the House Republicans are complicit. He's been able to get away with this because Senate Republicans are complicit. But most importantly, the courts, especially the Supreme Court, is complicit."

"And so I think one of the places that we have to start is that we are absolutely, they are the highest court in the land, and they have no ethics guard rails," she said. "Now you go down to the lower courts, and they do. How much sense does that make?"

'Airbrushing History': Fox News Host Nails Trump For Smithsonian Impeachment Coverup

Fox News host Howard Kurtz argued that President Donald Trump was "airbrushing history" after he reportedly pressured a Smithsonian museum into removing references to his two impeachments.

"The Washington Post reports that the National Museum of American History, part of the Smithsonian, has removed references to President Trump's two impeachments," Kurtz noted on Sunday. "This was done under pressure from the White House, the paper says, leaving just Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton."

"The museum says the exhibit hasn't been updated since 2008, so everything has reverted back to that year," he added. "Kind of sounds like airbrushing history."

Editor's Note: The Smithsonian has indicated they will restore the references to Trump's two impeachments in the coming weeks.

'Buy American' Knife Maker Gets Harsh Reality Check On Trump's Tariffs

Josh Smith has seen the rapid growth of his knife business since he started it during the pandemic. Appearances on Fox News and Joe Rogan, among many others, had him well-positioned to sell a quality product with an ever-expanding market. Then Trump got into office and it all went pear-shaped.

Source: Associated Press

Josh Smith, founder and president of Montana Knife Co., called himself a Trump voter but said he sees the tariffs on foreign steel and other goods as threatening his business.

For instance, Smith just ordered a $515,000 machine from Germany that grinds his knife blades to a sharp edge. Trump had imposed a 10% tax on products from the EU that is set to rise to 15% under the trade framework he announced Sunday. So Trump’s tax on the machine comes to $77,250 — about enough for Smith to hire an entry-level worker.

Smith would happily buy the bevel-grinding machines from an American supplier. But there aren’t any. “There’s only two companies in the world that make them, and they’re both in Germany,” Smith said.

Then there’s imported steel, which Trump is taxing at 50%. Until this year, Montana Knife bought the powdered steel it needs from Crucible Industries in Syracuse, New York. But Crucible declared bankruptcy last December, and its assets were purchased by a Swedish firm, Erasteel, which moved production to Sweden.

Polls Have More Bad News For Republicans

More Americans now affiliate themselves with the Democratic Party than the Republican Party, marking the first time this has happened since January 2024, according to a Gallup poll released Thursday.

Gallup finds that in the second quarter of 2025, an average of 46% of Americans say they identified as a Democrat or a Democratic-leaning independent, compared with the 43% who say they are a Republican or Republican-leaning independent.

That's a change from the first quarter of the year, when an equal 45% of Americans identified with either party. And it's an even bigger shift from the fourth quarter of 2024—when last year’s presidential election took place—when 47% identified as Republicans.

Gallup said that the shift is not unexpected since the party in power usually sees voters turn away from it in the first few months of a new administration.

F*ck The Republican Monsters Who Are Killing Public Broadcasting

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced yesterday that it was starting an “orderly wind-down of its operations” weeks after Congress passed a measure that clawed back more than $1 billion in funds to the organization. Thank God for the fucking Republicans who are saving us all from the liberal horrors of Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, and Austin City Limits! Via UAToday:

The corporation disperses federal funds to NPR and PBS. President Donald Trump called for the outlets’ federal funding to be pulled in May, saying “neither entity presents a fair, accurate or unbiased portrayal of current events to taxpaying citizens.”

Corporation for Public Broadcasting employees were told on Aug. 1 that most staff positions would be slashed as the fiscal year ends on Sept. 30. Some staff would remain through January 2026 to “ensure a responsible and orderly closeout of operations,” according to the corporation’s news release.

“Public media has been one of the most trusted institutions in American life, providing educational opportunity, emergency alerts, civil discourse, and cultural connection to every corner of the country,” Corporation for Public Broadcasting President and CEO Patricia Harrison said. “We are deeply grateful to our partners across the system for their resilience, leadership, and unwavering dedication to serving the American people.”

Whiny Titty Baby Has All References To His Impeachments Removed From Smithsonian

The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, the institution responsible for preserving American history, caved to the White House after being pressured by the Trump administration and removed references to his two impeachments. While rewriting history, the exhibit now states that "only three presidents have seriously faced removal," referring to Johnson, Nixon, and Clinton. As a result, the exhibit now resembles its appearance in 2008. We're sure Trump's peanut butter brain feels vindicated after his humiliating two impeachments -- but it still happened. Trump is the only president in US history to be impeached twice.

A source told The Washington Post that the change came about as part of a content review that the Smithsonian agreed to undertake following pressure from the White House to remove an art museum director.

The Washington Post reports:

After this story published, the Smithsonian said in a statement that "a future and updated exhibit will include all impeachments."

A temporary label including content about Trump's impeachments had been on display since September 2021 at the Washington museum, a Smithsonian spokesperson told The Washington Post, adding that it was intended to be a short-term addition to address current events. Now, the exhibit notes that "only three presidents have seriously faced removal."
