Comrade Trump is already trying to work his magic on the EU:
“President Trump reportedly asked French President Emmanuel Macron why he does not withdraw his country from the European Union (E.U.) and suggested that the U.S. could offer France a bilateral trade deal if he did so.
“According to a reported column published by The Washington Post on Thursday, Trump floated the idea of France’s withdrawal from the E.U. to Macron while the French president was visiting the White House in April.
“Why don’t you leave the E.U.?” Trump reportedly asked.
“He then offered to extend a bilateral trade deal to France with better terms than those given to the E.U. if Macron did withdraw from the union, The Post’s Josh Rogin reported.”
Whatever it is that Putin has as leverage over The Russian Usurper continues to pay off handsomely. I still don’t think it’s the Pee Tapes that are driving all of this (you cannot shame the shameless), but I do think that there must be a lot of Ameros involved, and if we could see the tax returns we would know (one way or the other) what his exposure is.
Hewitt announced this morning this was his final show on MSNBC. He'll remain with the network as a contributor. What he actually contributes, aside from more bullshit is an open question.
I've addressed this subject before, but it keeps coming up:
President Trump ... once again railed against the “elite” at a campaign rally in Fargo, N.D., echoing comments he made last week at a rally in Minnesota.
“I hate it, I meet these people, they call it the elite,” Trump said Wednesday night.
“We got more money, we got more brains, we got better houses and apartments, we got nicer boats, we’re smarter than they are and they say they’re the elite,” the president said. “You’re the elite, we’re the elite.”
Trump went on to call the elite “stone cold losers.”
“Let’s call ourselves, from now on, the super elite,” he said.
Here's the clip:

Hooray hooray, it's Saturday, & the last day of the first half of the yr.! Why not have a Half-New Yr.'s Eve celebration tonight?
Dispatches From The Culture Wars fears a 21st century Underground Railroad may be necessary for continued reproductive rights in the post-Justice Kennedy era.
The Carpentariat, believing the undecided swing voter is pretty much mythical, suggests tough mid-term messaging from Democrats.
Another mid-term take, from mikey of Consider The Source.
Funny Pages: "We Canadians like to think we’re much better than Americans. But is that true?" from The Nib.
Science Sat. Bonus: Space is the place, & grease is the word: "It looks cold, dark and empty, but astronomers have revealed that interstellar space is permeated with a fine mist of grease-like molecules.
Nobody with any financial responsibilities is paying one lick of attention to Larry Kudlow.
On Mornings with Maria today, Kudlow said this:
“As the economy gears up, more people working, better jobs and careers, those revenues come rolling in, and the deficit is coming down, and it’s coming down rapidly. Growth solves a lot of problems.”
Except NO IT ISN'T LARRY. The Heisenberg Report called their post "Larry Kudlow Now Just Plain Old Lying On National Television About The Deficit, Because Who Even Cares Anymore, Right?":
That is a demonstrable, bald-faced lie. Period. Everyone knows the deficit is exploding – that’s the main criticism of Trump’s fiscal policy.
As WaPo correctly notes, “there is no publicly available justification for [Kudlow’s] claim.”
But that reminder is for public consumption – that is, it’s meant to communicate to the layperson that what Kudlow is saying has no basis in reality. For those of us who spend our time steeped in this debate, Kudlow’s contention is flat out laughable. All anyone has been talking about for months on end is the deficit.
...For God’s sake, the CBO issued a report just 48 hours ago that contained [an] idiot-proof (but not Kudlow-proof) visual.

TechCrunch is excited to announce that the Startup Battlefield Latin America is coming to São Paulo on November 8 this year. This is the first event TechCrunch has ever held in Latin America, and we are all in to make it a memorable one to support the fast-emerging startup ecosystem in the region.
The Startup Battlefield is TechCrunch’s premier startup competition, which over the past 12 years has placed 750 companies on stage to pitch top VCs and TechCrunch editors. Those founders have gone on to raise more than $8 billion and produce more than 100 exits. Startup Battlefield Latin America aims to add 15 great founders from Latin America to those elite ranks.
Here’s how the competition works. Founders may apply now to participate in Startup Battlefield. Any early stage (pre-A round) company with a working product headquartered in an eligible Latin American country (see list below) may apply. Applications close August 6. TechCrunch editors will review the applications and, based on which applicants have the strongest potential for a big exit of major societal impact, pick 15 to compete on November 8. TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield team will work intensively with each founding team to hone their six-minute pitch to perfection.
Then it’s game day. The 15 companies will take the stage at São Paulo’s Tomie Ohtake Institute in front of a live audience of 500 people to pitch top-tier VC judges. The judges and TechCrunch editors will pick five for a finals round. Those lucky finalists will face a fresh team of judges, and one will emerge as the winner of the first-ever Startup Battlefield Latin America. The winner takes home $25,000 and a trip for two to the next Disrupt, where they can exhibit free of charge in the Startup Alley and may also qualify to participate in the Startup Battlefield at Disrupt. Sweet deal. All Startup Battlefield sessions will be captured on video and posted on TechCrunch.com.
It’s an experience no founder would want to miss, considering the opportunity to join the ranks of Battlefield greats from years past, including Dropbox, Yammer, Mint, Getaround, CloudFlare, Vurb and many more.
Get that application started now.
Here’s the need-to-know about qualifying to apply:
