Wisconsin Speaker Vos Denies Threat To Impeach New Justice

At the beginning of September, Wisconsin Speaker Robin Vos threatened to impeach Justice Janet Protasiewicz,if she did not recuse herself from cases regarding the GOP's gerrymandered maps.

A week and a half later, Vos backpedaled from the threat, denying that he ever made the threat at all. He blamed the accusations on the Democrats and the supposed liberal mainstream media for running with that ugly, ugly lie in order for the Democrats to use it as a fundraiser.

Sadly, the media was apparently too busy doing all their liberal duties to ask Vos to explain this:

GOPer Jason Smith Rips Matt Gaetz's Motion To Vacate

Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) lashed out at Republican colleague Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida after he said he would try to end Rep. Kevin McCarthy's (R-CA) speakership.

During an interview on Fox News, host Maria Bartiromo noted that Gaetz said on Sunday that he would bring a motion to vacate to oust McCarthy over a government funding bill.

"It's an absolute waste of time if he brings a motion to vacate," Smith said. "The only way a motion to vacate could be successful is if Matt Gaetz did exactly what he yells at Speaker McCarthy doing, and that's working with the Democrats."

"He'd have to get more than 200 plus Democrats to join him to remove Kevin McCarthy, because more than 200 Republicans are 100% behind Speaker McCarthy," he added. "If, in fact, he does this motion to vacate, Maria, that will only slow walk the process of getting to every one of those individual funding bills that he proclaims that he wants to pass."

Smith predicted Gaetz would work with Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) to remove McCarthy.

"And let me tell you, if you remove a Republican speaker that then puts the Democrats empowered, these investigations [of President Joe Biden] will be done and stalled," the lawmaker said.

Shutdown Averted ... Or Postponed

Happy October 1st. The government is still open, after Kevin McCarthy caved and put a clean CR on the floor, reauthorizing the FAA, continuing funding at current levels, and not authorizing additional Ukraine aid. Apparently the only thing Republicans really wanted was to serve Putin and cut Ukraine. They didn't really even succeed at that, but in 45 days we could find ourselves in the same boat.

At any rate, the shutdown is at least postponed until just before Thanksgiving and the government will continue to function. Suck it, Matt Gaetz.

Late Night Music Club: Supertramp - The Logical Song

When Supertramp released the Breakfast In America album, it rocketed to number one. The album spawned many hit singles including The Logical Song, Bloody Well Right and, of course, the title song. That's why it's so disappointing to me that you never hear their music anymore, even on the classic rock stations. I think that it's arguable that they should be considered up there with The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, and even the Beatles.

In this video, Supertramp is performing The Logical Song live from Paris at the end of 1979. They had put on four concerts in Paris and had recorded all of them and filmed two of them. The recordings made it to the album Live From Paris. Unfortunately, the film never was made.

Two new polls released this month have found significant public support for ending America's status as the world's only democracy that uses an electoral college to elect its president. The nonpartisan Pew Research Center publicized a survey that finds a 65-33 majority in favor of ditching the Electoral College and instead electing the candidate who wins the most votes, while the Democratic firm Civiqs unveiled a new tracking poll whose numbers as of Thursday find a 51-42 majority in support of the idea.

GOP Rep. Gonzales Ditches Work To Join Musk Border’s Stunt

In case you missed it, South African immigrant Elon Musk dressed up like a Texas cowboy and filmed himself at the U.S. border, in yet another attempt to insert his dishonest, white-nationalist self into U.S. policy and politics.

From The Daily Beast:

The world’s richest man noted that he is an immigrant and that he believes the U.S. should have “a greatly expanded legal immigration system” with “expedited legal approval” for anyone “who is hardworking and honest and will be a contributor to the United States.” But, he said, there is now “a flow of people that is of such magnitude that it is actually leading to a collapse of social services.”

It’s not as if Musk is in any position to do anything to solve the border crisis. But you know who is? Rep. Gonzales. If Gonzales really cared about a collapse of social services, he would have stayed in Washington and focused on preventing the looming MAGA Republican shutdown. More from TDB:

Spineless GOP Rep Refuses To Condemn Trump's Call For Milley To Be Executed

All CNN's Abby Phillips was treated to instead from spineless MAGA Rep. Cory Mills were weasel words and both siderism in response to her question on whether Trump "crossed the line" when calling for the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to be executed.

During a discussion about the looming government shutdown, Phillips wrapped up the interview this Friday by playing a tape of Milley responding to Trump's death threat, where he said:

We don't take an oath to a country. We don't take an oath to a tribe. We don't take an oath to a religion. We don't take an oath to a king or a queen or a tyrant or a dictator. And we don't take an oath to a wannabe dictator. We don't take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution.

Here's the back and forth that followed with Mills twisting himself in knots before he'd ever dare to say anything negative about Dear Leader and basically justified what Trump said by making some of the exact same baseless attacks against Milley himself:

PHILLIP: A lot of people interpreted that as a swipe at former President Donald Trump, who I should note, suggested that he should be executed recently.
