Trump banned CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, and for once the rest of the press corps refused to play along. All three are suing. And the other TV networks walked out of the pool. That makes it the right week to ask what access is truly worth and if corporate media can hold the line at all.
Cliff, David Shuster, and Maritsa Georgiou of Grounded took it from three angles: a political operative, a former White House correspondent, and a longtime anchor who's watched her industry shrink. David argued the ban has cost reporters less than anyone admits, and added he wants every network to get itself banned in response.
And they all discussed the inherent misogyny and stupidity of Trump's statement on his way into the United Nations, when he turned on CNN's Kaitlan Collins (yet again) and told her she should not be there at all. As if Old Man Orange has any control over which media is granted access by the UN.
